  • click Increased the Medicare reimbursement rate for Alaska by 35%
  • click Worked with Fairbanks and successfully fought to keep Eielson Air Force Base alive through the BRAC process
  • click Successfully worked to bring home the 172nd Stryker Brigade by Christmas of 2006, after a series of lengthy deployments
  • click Saved the Dear Santa Letter Program at the North Pole Post Office
  • click Lisa, alongside the late Senator Stevens, was instrumental in making the Veterans Mat-Su Community Based Outpatient Clinic a reality in 2008
  • click Secured Oil Spill tax relief legislation to close the chapter on claims by oil fishermen in the wake of the EXXON Valdez disaster, which passed in 2008
  • click Assisted the village Head Start center in St. Paul to remain open when HHS, despite the lack of statutory or regulatory authority, said they must close because they had fewer than 13 students
  • click Secured access for the people of King Cove to be able to reach life saving health care and resources through the Izembek Land Exchange that benefited the people of King Cove and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service
  • click Successfully worked to secure the Commercial Vessel Discharge permit moratorium, which excludes most Alaskan fishing vessels from onerous regulations that rightly apply to larger vessels
  • click Secured $5 million for the Yukon River Chinook salmon disaster funding, which was declared in January of 2010 by the Secretary of Commerce
  • click Helped secure much needed funding for water and waste water infrastructure improvement in villages through out Alaska in the Village Safe Water Act, which garnered $24.5 million total
  • click Led the fight for a road map forward in the Arctic as we increase our strategic role in the Arctic
  • click Expanded the Qualified Veteran Mortgage Bond program to allow veterans of the First Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan to be eligible for low-rate home loans. Alaska is one of five states in the country that is eligible to participate in the QVMB program
  • click Secured wrongly denied funding for the Alaska Territorial Guard to reinstate the retirement benefits of these valiant Alaskans
  • click Reauthorized Head Start Act, passed in 2007, ensuring that our youngest children have access to high quality early childhood education that helps to set their feet on the right path to academic success
  • click Allowed fishermen to average their income for tax purposes. Before the change, only farmers were allowed to average income
  • click Protected access to hunting, fishing, trapping activities on public lands
  • click Worked to pass the Alaska Lands Transfer Acceleration Act, which required the Department of Interior to complete their land transfers to Alaskans and Alaska Natives in an expedited manner, giving Alaska the land it was promised at statehood
  • click Secured $350,000 for physician recruitment and retention initiative through the Providence Health System
