  • Shaped the law that is bringing billions of dollars and thousands of jobs to Alaska to build and upgrade roads, bridges, marine highways, ports, airports, clean water, broadband and cheaper, cleaner, reliable energy – without raising taxes.

  • ANWR – Wrote the legislative text that opened the non-wilderness 1002 Area to responsible development after a 40-year effort by Alaskans to do so.
  • NPR-A – Helped secure permits for CD-5, GMT-1, GMT-2 and continues to push for final approval of the Willow project.
  • Public Lands – Provided land allotments for Alaska Native Vietnam veterans, increased access to federal lands for sportsmen, improved volcano monitoring, and restored claims for small Alaska miners.
  • Energy Act – Authored and led the first major energy law in 13 years across the finish line, boosting domestic minerals, renewable energy, advanced nuclear and more.
  • Great American Outdoors Act – Advanced the largest conservation measure to fund deferred maintenance and the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
  • Secure Rural Schools – Repeatedly extended funding for schools and roads in Alaska’s rural communities.
  • Alaska Gasline – Ensured completion of the Alaska LNG project’s federal environmental review and updated the $26 billion federal loan guarantee authorization to ensure the current project structure is eligible.
  • Cold Climate Housing Research Center – Saved the Fairbanks institution with a new partnership.

  • Secured incentive pay for service in Alaska as well as new and improved housing, childcare, morale, welfare and recreation facilities.
  • Improved the VA to provide our veterans with better healthcare.

  • Introduced and won passage of the Alaska Tourism Restoration Act, ensuring large cruise ships could return to Alaska in 2021 and providing a lifeline for countless small businesses.

Worked with Alaska Natives on a wide range of issues that benefit rural residents and communities, securing much-needed financial support and assistance:

  • $8 billion for Alaska Native corporations and tribes to respond to the pandemic.
  • Nearly $2 billion for rural broadband.
  • $62 million for rural public safety.
  • More than $15 million for tribal court systems.

  • F-35s – Ensured Alaska is home to multiple squadrons of F-22s and F-35s, the military’s most advanced fighter jets, providing for the national defense while bringing jobs and opportunities to Alaska.
  • Icebreakers – Secured full funding for a second Polar Security Cutter to boost the U.S. presence in the Arctic.
  • Arctic Security – Created the Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies, the Department of Defense’s newest Regional Center, to strengthen Arctic security and form closer partnerships with allies.
  • Military Families – Secured bonus pay and raises for Alaska-based servicemembers, improved housing, childcare, and recreation.

  • No Frankenfish – Secured funding to keep our oceans and seafood wild and healthy by fighting vigorously against genetically engineered (GE) salmon.
  • Pandemic Relief – Secured $300 million so fisheries could survive and ensured commercial fish crews were paid during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Seasonal Workers – Ensured fish and tourism businesses could get immigration visas to hire needed workers.

  • Worked to end surprise medical billing, including for air ambulance trips.
  • Secured $800 million for the Department of Education to address youth homelessness in Alaska and nationwide.
  • Ensured support for Alaska hospitals by extending funding for the Rural Community Hospital Program.
  • Established and funded the Micro-Grants for Food Security Program to help increase the amount of food grown locally in Alaska.
  • Worked to finalize a land exchange agreement to provide a life-saving road and emergency access to medical care for the isolated community of King Cove.

  • Violence Against Women Act – Prioritized public safety and justice by leading the reauthorization and modernization of this landmark law to reduce violent crime against women.
  • Missing, Murdered, and Trafficked Indigenous Persons – Wrote the Not Invisible Act and Savanna’s Act – two laws that advance the solving of cold cases — while using her seniority to secure millions of dollars in federal appropriations to help address this issue.
  • Victims of Crime Act – Passed the law that ensures victims are taken care of and secured federal funding for 30 victim service providers in Alaska.
  • Human Trafficking – Working to ensure each FBI field office has a Human Trafficking Program Coordinator.
